  1. I can’t work out if this review makes me want to read the book or not – do I want to feel like I’m being slowly eaten by a bear??? Not sure it sounds that pleasant, but I can’t deny it makes me somehow want to try it out.

    1. I started John Crow’s Devil today. The blurb – possibly as with the review I posted – really didn’t sell it to me; it was only my remembered pleasure of reading Killings that made me go into it. And I’m glad I did so! Thick, immersive syntax and patois are the stand-puts not the forbearing incidents. I look forward to resuming that book and starting his new one.
